Intel Leadership Forum - AU
Essential Question:
How can educational leaders support teacher effectiveness to improve student achievement?
Forum Goals:
Through this forum participants will:

Examine the critical role educational leaders play in promoting, modeling, and supporting effective integration of ICT
-
Identify, access, and use available resources and technology tools to support
professional development, educator practice, and student learning
-
Create a prioritized list of specific leadership behaviors that promote the integration of ICT as a tool to improve student learning
-
Review, analyze, and apply the standards for each state and become familar with the International Society for Education (ISTE) standards for leaders, teachers and students.

Synthesize understanding and begin to develop an action plan to implement in your school.

Module 1: Examining Leadership Behaviors and Standards (70 minutes)
- Activity 1: Review State and International Standards
- Review State Standards
- Review International Standards
- Identify and Review Essential Conditions to Effectively Leverage ICT for Learning
- Using the Essential Conditions Checklist Template (below) and the scale provided, indicate your level of progress.
- Activity 2: Learning Through Ranking
- Rank order the Essential Conditions from Activity 1 based on those that you believe have the "greatest priority" to work on in your school.

- Compare your ranking with other participants and discuss how your rankings are different than those around you.
- Activity 3: Effectively Leveraging Technology
- Step 1: Reviewing the Questions
- How can you shift priorities and time to support integration of technology into instruction?
- What evidence will you accept that integration is occurring, keeping in mind that use and integration are separate?
- What helps a leader move to higher levels of comfort and knowledge relative to technology integration?
- Step 2: Discussing the Questions
- In your group, discuss the assigned question for your group and assign a scribe to go to the online worksheet below and record your groups response

- Step 3: Sharing your response and viewing the responses from other groups.
- Also describe the experience of using this collaborative Web tool.

- After exploring some of the Web 2.0 tools above work in small groups and add you reflections in an Online Collaborative Tools spreadsheet
- Describe how educators might use the tools you reviewed.
Module 4: Developing Your Action Plan (30 minutes)

- Identify 2-3 "next steps" - use either of the following templates or ne provided by your facilitator
